What the badges mean
- Verified Verified — MRR, ARR and growth were calculated from the product's Stripe data during the most recent successful check. The product page shows when it was last verified.
- Self-reported — the founder entered these figures. We haven't confirmed them, and they are always labelled.
- Verification lapsed — the product was verified before, but recent checks failed. Figures fall back to self-reported until it succeeds again.
How it works
- The founder creates a restricted, read-only key in their Stripe dashboard.
- They paste it into their product's verification page. It is encrypted immediately and never leaves our servers.
- We read active subscriptions and recent charges to calculate MRR (normalised to monthly), ARR (MRR × 12), last 30 days' revenue and month-over-month growth.
- We store only the calculated totals and a revenue history snapshot — not your customers or transactions.
- We re-check automatically. Failed or revoked keys remove the verified badge.
What verification doesn't cover
Verification confirms what Stripe reports for the connected account. It doesn't cover revenue from other payment providers, profit, costs or churn, and it isn't an audit. If you're buying a product, always do your own due diligence.
Questions
What permissions does the Stripe key need?
Create a restricted key with read access to Charges, Subscriptions, Products, Prices and Coupons (everything else: None). It cannot create charges, issue refunds or change anything in your account.
Is my Stripe key visible to anyone?
No. The key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is stored, is only decrypted on our servers during verification, and is never shown in the browser, returned from an API, logged or shared — including with other founders or admins.
How often is revenue re-verified?
Automatically on a schedule, and whenever you click refresh. If a check fails repeatedly — for example because the key was revoked — the verified badge is removed until verification succeeds again.
Can I disconnect?
Yes, at any time from your dashboard. Disconnecting deletes the encrypted key; your product reverts to self-reported figures. You should also roll the key in Stripe.
